As Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, Daniel is responsible for management of the firm and of the funds. He leads the Investment Committee and the Management Committee and serves on the Compliance Committee. Daniel marked the beginning of his career in 1989 at Manufacturers Hanover Trust where he was involved in Mexico’s sovereign debt restructuring under the first application of the Brady Plan, which is largely recognized as one of the earliest debt restructurings of scale on record. Dan is proficient in Spanish. He is based in New York.
Prior to founding Argentem Creek in 2015, Daniel was responsible for all emerging markets risk taking activity within high-yield, structured, and distressed corporate credit at Black River Asset Management. In this role, he oversaw a global team responsible for analyzing, sourcing, trading and investing in emerging markets credit. Prior to joining Black River in 2004, Daniel was with JP Morgan New York for fifteen years, most recently as a Managing Director responsible for the distressed debt trading business. In 1989, he joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust, which through a series of mergers became the current JP Morgan Chase, where he worked as an analyst and went on to establish the corporate credit trading desk in 1990. As the company underwent a series of mergers to become JP Morgan, Daniel managed various parts of the corporate credit business in emerging markets, most recently in the area of distressed corporate debt. He managed both proprietary risk as well as a client flow book. He was also responsible for managing sourcing efforts, directing credit analysts in the development of analytics, and working with legal counsel to develop strategies and manage legal issues related to workouts.
As President, Harvey is responsible for implementing the firm’s strategic plan and managing the operational aspects of the business. He impacts the investment process by serving as a portfolio strategist and by leading the firm’s risk effort. He serves on the Management, Investment, Risk Management, Valuation and Compliance Committees. Harvey is based in New York.
Prior to joining Argentem Creek in 2020, Harvey was President and Founding Partner at Frontlight Capital LP, a discretionary global macro investment management firm, where he was responsible for certain aspects of the emerging market investment portfolio, risk management, business development and the firm’s operational and governance infrastructure. Prior to Frontlight, Harvey spent 24 years at JP Morgan Chase, most recently as the Head of US Emerging Market Fixed Income Sales where he was a senior member of the global emerging markets management team, which set policy and direction for the bank’s entire emerging market business and worked strategically with the senior management across the bank. During this time, he was responsible for global emerging market product offerings for North American clients, including external sovereign debt, corporate credit, local markets fixed income, foreign exchange and derivative products. Harvey began his tenure at JP Morgan as an emerging market sales assistant in 1992 and subsequently sold and traded nearly every emerging market security JP Morgan offered across asset classes and countries during several market cycles. He was instrumental in the creation of new products as emerging markets trading evolved through the 1990’s. In the 2000’s, as JP Morgan expanded its emerging market footprint globally, Harvey was in an oversight role, managing the North America team and teams in certain regions. He also participated in setting policy, product development, and new region expansion for the bank.
In her role as Chief Administrative Officer, Angela is responsible for overseeing the operations of the management company, human resources and client service. She serves on various firm committees including the Management Committee, Operating Committee, Risk Management Committee and the Compliance Committee. Prior to transitioning to CAO in 2021, Angela was Global Head of Business Development where she was responsible for capital raising, client service, branding and marketing. She has over 20 years of relevant experience.
Prior to joining Argentem Creek at its inception, Angela was at O’Brien-Staley Partners for two years as a Managing Director focused on helping the firm launch its first fund. In 2007, she was hired at Pine River Capital Management as their first marketer and investor relations professional. Angela was responsible for capital raising and client service as Director of Marketing and Investor Relations and then later in her tenure was a Managing Director and member of various committees. Prior to Pine River, Angela was on the Prime Brokerage team at Banc of America Securities in Chicago for three years where she worked with Midwest-based institutional hedge fund investors including pensions, endowments, foundations, family offices and hedge fund of funds to enable them to find relevant hedge fund investments. Earlier in her career, she was a Vice President and Senior Research Analyst at USBancorp Piper Jaffray, where she was a health care stock analyst, and a consultant at Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago, where she was in the Hedge Fund Advisory Group.
Angela currently serves on the Investment Committee for the Northwest Area Foundation and is a member of 100 Women in Finance. In 2007, she founded the Twin Cities Committee of Help for Children. In 2011, Angela was named a Hedge Fund Rising Star by Institutional Investor. In 2020, she was named one of the 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds by the London-based Hedge Fund Journal. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance and Taxation.
