Daniel Chapman
Founder, CEO & Co-CIO | New York

Daniel Chapman

Daniel Chapman is responsible for leading the firm and investment strategy. He has more than 35 years of experience successfully negotiating and navigating businesses through major financial crises over decades of market volatility, with a track record of outperforming major benchmarks.

Prior to founding Argentem Creek in 2015, Daniel was responsible for all emerging markets risk taking activity within high-yield, distressed and private credit at Cargill Inc subsidiary, Black River Asset Management. Daniel was recruited by Cargill to help establish the hedge fund business in 2004, opening a NY office and building a successful and highly regarded global team, contributing to growing the fund to a peak of over $13 billion.

Prior to joining Black River, Daniel spent 15 years at JP Morgan New York in the Emerging Markets Division, most recently as a Managing Director responsible for risk taking in Emerging Markets distressed trading.
Maarten Terlouw
President & Co-CIO | New York

Maarten Terlouw

Maarten is responsible for co-leading the management of the firm and the funds investments.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek in 2023, Maarten spent over 25 years at ABN AMRO Bank, where he most recently served as Regional Chief Executive Officer responsible for all activities of ABN AMRO in North and South Americas. In addition, he was appointed Chief Sustainability Officer for ABN AMRO Bank Group in January 2022. During his long tenure at the firm, he held various senior executive positions in corporate & investment banking and advisory across sectors including Industrials, Natural Resources, Trade & Commodity Finance, Global Transportation & Logistics in New York, London and Amsterdam. Through these leadership positions, he has managed many global teams, and business lines and developed a deep and broad understanding of all facets of banking, ranging from design and implementation of risk and compliance programs, regulatory matters, design and execution of growth and deceleration strategies. As a business leader and practioner, Maarten has very deep transaction experience in various sectors in Corporate Finance, M&A advisory, Leveraged and Structured Finance and large and complex fund-raising exercises, in many parts of the world across different industries. 
Esteban Chiappe
Founding Partner - Head of Latin America |

Esteban Chiappe

Esteban serves as a Portfolio Manager focused on special situations, distressed and high-yield opportunities in Latin America. He has worked with Argentem Creek since its inception and previously worked with the team while he was at Black River Asset Management, in New York and Argentina. Esteban has over 20 years of experience as an emerging markets investment professional and is fluent in Spanish and is conversant in Portuguese.

Esteban was a senior member of the emerging markets credit team at Black River where he served as a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager focused on Latin American credit opportunities. Prior to joining Black River in 2014, Esteban worked at Deutsche Bank, where he was a Director in the Emerging Markets Credit Trading group. From 2000 to 2012, he was at JP Morgan in Buenos Aires and New York, initially in the M&A advisory group and later in the loan workouts group for the bank’s portfolio in Argentina. Esteban later joined the high-yield and distressed debt trading team and ended up running the Global Special Opportunities Group for Latin America at JP Morgan focusing on principal investments in credit and private equity. Esteban launched his career as a Management Associate at Citibank Buenos Aires, where he worked from 1998 to 2000.
Jason Golde
Founding Partner - Head Trader | Minneapolis

Jason Golde

Jason serves as Portfolio Manager responsible for monitoring the portfolio from a macro standpoint including global idea generation, hedging the portfolios and providing trade execution. He has over 20 years of relevant experience. Jason is based in Minneapolis.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek at its inception, Jason co-managed a trading portfolio of emerging markets corporate debt and acted as the primary trader for the credit team at Black River Asset Management beginning in 2006. In 2004, he joined Black River as a fund accountant, focused on fixed income strategies and was quickly promoted to a leadership role. Jason gained broad experience at Black River as responsibilities included cash management, funding, settlements, modeling, valuation, risk management and portfolio construction. Early in his career, he spent four years as a Senior Accountant and eventually was named Controller at a high-tech manufacturing company.
John Patton
Founding Partner - Head of EMEA | London

John Patton

John serves as a Portfolio Manager responsible for the ACP London presence and is focused on special situations, distressed and high yield debt, and structured credit in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He has over 28 years of experience investing in illiquid credit and special situations primarily in Russia, Ukraine, and other former Soviet states. He is fluent in Russian and has lived in the CIS periodically since 1990. Originally from Boston, he has been based in London since 1997.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek at its inception, John was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Black River Asset Management focused on emerging markets credit. From 2013 through early 2015, he was a founding partner at Connect Capital Partners, a London-based emerging markets and technology corporate finance advisory firm. From 1997 and through 2012, he held senior roles at Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, and Deutsche Bank, specializing in proprietary trading, restructuring, origination, and structuring. John began his career as a credit analyst in the early 1990s at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and London. From 1992 to 1993, he was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow and traveled across Russia/CIS studying the Orthodox Church and its relationship with politics following the fall of the Soviet Union.
Federico Orfila
Vice President |

Federico Orfila

Federico serves as a Vice President, focusing on special situations, distressed and high-yield opportunities in Latin America. He has worked with Argentem Creek since its inception and previously worked with the team while he was at Black River Asset Management. Federico is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Prior to joining Black River in 2015 after business school, Federico was an associate on the Private Equity team at CoInvest Argentina S.A., a private equity firm that focuses on investment opportunities in South America. He held this position from 2008 through 2013. While at CoInvest, Federico was active with Fundacion Reciduca as a financial advisor, an organization that is focused on the personal development of at-risk Argentine youth through job training and educational training. While in business school, he was a summer associate in the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Investment Banking program and was an analyst with GlaxcoSmithKline early in his career.
Bo Zhang
Vice President | New York

Bo Zhang

Bo serves as a Vice President, focusing on special situations, distressed and high-yield opportunities in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has worked with Argentem Creek since its inception and previously worked with the team while he was at Black River Asset Management. Bo is currently based in New York and is fluent in Mandarin.

Bo joined Black River in 2012 as an associate on the private equity team. In this role, Bo focused on growth equity investments in emerging markets food and agricultural companies and gained significant experience doing rotations in several markets including Latin America, Southeast Asia and China. Beginning in late 2013, Bo joined the emerging markets credit team where he parlayed his prior experience into being a credit analyst. Bo gained analyst experience with internships with China Southern Fund Management, Robert W. Baird & Co and Kennedy Capital Management during his undergraduate and graduate studies.
Dilip N Massand, Esq
Head of Global Strategic Partnerships | Abu Dhabi

Dilip N Massand, Esq

Dilip serves as the Head of Global Strategic Partnerships focused on strategic growth initiatives. He also serves as Co-Head of Middle East, responsible for business management and operations oversight in the region. He has over 30 years of emerging markets experience across advisory services, litigation management and cross-border restructuring.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek, Dilip was co-founder and CEO of Phoenix Advisors, and Abu Dhabi based firm focused on litigation funding, litigation management, and advisory services for special situations funds investing in the Middle East and surrounding markets. Prior to this he was the Managing Director of SAS Asset Recovery, which created and funded bespoke cross border asset recovery solutions.
After graduating from Law School, he started his career as General Counsel of his Family’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management firm, leading the Group’s expansion to the Middle East and India. He also diversified the interests into Media and Consulting services, eventually branching as an Advisor to investors and businesses seeking to traverse the Middle East, USA, and India.

Dilip holds a Juris Doctor from New York Law School. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, ABANA, and a Charter Member of TiE Dubai. Dilip serves on the Advisory Boards of New York Law School’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and Education for Employment. He is also a Senior Advisor to Alvarez & Marsal in the Middle East and to Generation Transition Advisors.
Jeroen Westrik
Regional Director | Abu Dhabi

Jeroen Westrik

Jeroen serves as the Regional Director for Argentem Creek Middle East, the firm’s MENA & Asia Headquarters, and is responsible for business management and operations oversight in the region. Jeroen is fluent in French, Dutch and German. He is based in Abu Dhabi.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek in 2021, Jeroen spent 20 years at ABN AMRO / RBS in London, Amsterdam, and Houston. Most recently, as Global Head of Basic Materials, he led global coverage teams in the Metals and Mining, Chemicals, and Building Materials sectors. During his tenure at ABN AMRO, Jeroen was on the management team responsible for Energy, Commodities (Trade Finance), and Shipping clients. Within the Natural Resources sector, Jeroen assisted his clients in raising over $60 billion in capital, often in event-driven complex multiproduct situations across different geographies. He has also worked in an advisory capacity for clients in the Natural Resource sector. In the early part of his career, he held roles in Project and Leveraged Finance. In recent years, Jeroen has been a regular speaker at industry conferences on ESG-related topics.
Beatriz Franco
Chief Operating Officer | New York

Beatriz Franco

As Chief Operating Officer, Beatriz is responsible for operational management of the firm including oversight of Finance, Legal, Operations, Infrastructure, and Technology. Beatriz works closely with the CIOs on strategic execution and serves on the Management, Investment, Risk, Valuation, Expense, and Compliance Committees. Beatriz is fluent is Portuguese and Spanish. She is based in New York.

Beatriz has over 20 years of experience across banking, law, investments, and business strategy & operations, ranging across multiple assets classes and jurisdictions. She has extensive experience across the capital structure and investment lifecycle including complex cross-border transactions, IPOs, private equity and private credit.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek in 2025, Beatriz spent nearly a decade at top-tier law firms across New York, Silicon Valey, and Brazil, as well as nine years at JPMorgan. During her tenure at JPMorgan she focused on emerging markets private credit, special situations, structured products, and debt capital markets. She also served as CEO of an Agtech start-up as well as director of investments at venture capital funds active in climate technologies and frontier tech. She has an MBA in Finance from IBMEC Brazil, a Masters in Corporate Law from New York University School of Law, and she is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, the California State Bar Association and the Brazilian Bar Association.
John Montovano
Chief Risk Officer | London

John Montovano

As Chief Risk Officer, John is responsible for measuring, reporting and monitoring portfolio risks. John works closely with the CIO and portfolio managers to aggregate and analyze relevant risk metrics and ensure the portfolio is appropriately hedged. John also uses his extensive knowledge and experience to expand the firm’s overall risk management capabilities. He chairs the firm’s Risk Management Committee and serves on the Investment, Compliance and Valuation Committees. John is based in London.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek, John spent 21 years at JPMorgan, most recently as Global Head of Emerging Market Repo Trading and Head of Asia Finance as well as Liability Management for the UK entity. During his tenure at JP Morgan, John held several roles managing Emerging Market fixed income products and teams. He has extensive experience implementing global regulatory frameworks, developing a cohesive risk management architecture, credit analysis and due diligence. Prior to JP Morgan, John held roles in the Derivative Product Group at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Global Custody Services at Bankers Trust NY.
Annie Yung
Head of Investor Relations | New York

Annie Yung

As Head of Investor Relations, Annie is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective clients. She has over 20 years of relationship management experience, working with institutional and corporate clients. Annie is based in New York.

Prior to joining Argentem Creek in 2019, Annie was a Senior Director at Cargill, Inc, holding positions in Financial Products Sales and Corporate Strategy & Development. Prior to Cargill, Annie held positions in Commodity Sales and Structuring at investment banks, including Société Générale and ABN AMRO. In these roles, she worked extensively with clients to develop commodity risk management and financing solutions. She has a track record of successful new product launches by identifying client needs, industry trends and regulatory landscape. Earlier in her career, she was a Credit Analyst at JP Morgan, where she covered a diverse portfolio of U.S. and European financial institutions.
